five simple rules
Be safe. So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise.(Ephesians 5:5)
Be kind. Always do for other people everything you want them to do for you. That is [the meaning of] Moses’ teachings and the Prophets. (Matthew 7:12)
Be respectful. Show proper respect to everyone. (1 Peter 2: 17)
Do what is right. O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8)
Remember who you are. You are light for the world. In the same way, let your light shine in front of people. Then they will see the good that you do and praise your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:14, 16)

Safe Sanctuaries Policies
Follow the “Three Person Rule” all the time so no youths are alone with adults. 3 Persons = 1 Adult + 2 Youths
3 Persons = 2 Adults +1 Youth
We expect you to immediately report any behavior that seems abusive or inappropriate to an adult staff member.
Adults must be at least 5 years older than the youth they are working with.
You must turn in a written permission form and medical treatment release form signed by your parent/guardian.
All activities should occur in open view. Leave window blinds open whenever possible.
Physical contact should be done in the presence of others in an open area and should be appropriate for church
Technology Policies
You may bring your phone! You may bring your ipod! You may bring your technological devices! Hurray! But you do so completely AT YOUR OWN RISK and WITH PARENT PERMISSION.
We will be moving around A LOT (i.e. Lots of different rooms all around the church campus.) It’ll be up to you to be sure all of your belongings are secure. Chandler UMC and other sponsoring churches are not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
Please DO NOT bring an addiction to your technology ;) You know that thing where you feel the urge to check your FB/Twitter/Instagram/email/whatever every 5 seconds? Yeah, that. Don’t do that. We want to USE TECHNOLOGY in really great ways. We’ve got a FB page set up AND a blog where you can post pics and comment on what you’re thinking and how you’re changing because of the people you’ve met and the new things you’ve done! We’ll be using #youthhubumc. Group Me chat is also an option for a small group tool.
You are encouraged to post during the lock-in, but wait until the Lock-In is over to check your comments/responses. Our focus is on the experience at hand and to be completely present with the people in front of us and with one another. Our posts are a tool to enhance that and we’ll wait to interact with the rest of the world. And of course, your posts should be of things that you and the entire group can be proud of. If it doesn’t fall into that category, DON’T POST IT.
No, No, Never, Never
No possession or use of alcohol, drugs or tobacco.
No fighting, weapons, fireworks, lighters or explosives.
No purple. In other words, no sexual mixing of “pink” (girls) with “blue” (boys).
Students will be sent home (at your parents’ expense) for not following these expectations.
